FAQs

Below are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Granite is an igneous rock formed from cooling magma. Granite is quarried throughout the world, with colors and patterns that indicate the region and the geological conditions that created it. Each granite slab is unique, with random and inconsistent patterns providing such a beautiful and classic appearance.

Quartz Stone is a man made material, bridging the gap between nature and technology, bringing elegance to every project. The finest selection of quartz particles, one of nature’s hardest material is combined with high-quality polymer resins and binders through a high-tech compression and heating process. The result is a dimensionally consistent material with an attractive appearance that is strong and durable.

Granite and Quartz worktops are very attractive, practical and hygienic – an ideal choice for worktops. They are tough, have a glassy finish when polished which is very durable and will last for many years, it’s waterproof, highly scratch resistant, heat resistant, keeps its colour and wipes clean easily.

Please send us a plan by e-mail or fax as accurate as possible, your choice of stone that you would like, the dimensions and the style of sink (either under-mounted or inset sitting on top of the stone). Please also specify if you want drainer grooves or not, any tap holes, hob cut outs and anything else you want cutting into the top. We will then do the rest and send you a quotation.

If you are happy with the quote and wish to place an order, please contact us to book in templates and installation dates. We take a 50% deposit on template and the final balance payment on the day of installation, as soon as the fitting is completed.

We operate mainly in the Cheshire and South Manchester area, although we have undertaken projects throughout the United Kingdom.

For an accurate site survey or ‘templating’ to take place, your base units should be securely installed and un-moveable. You can contact us before your units have been installed and we can arrange templating or a survey to take place the day after your units are installed.

A template is an exact replica of the required worktops. Accurate measurements of the kitchen units, cut outs for hobs and sinks and the size of overhang required. This is then used to manufacture the granite or quartz worktops ensuring a precise and accurate cutting of the product for a perfect work surface installation.

A template is an exact replica of the worktops required. We do our templates by making up a framework with 100mm strips of wood which are glued accurately together to form the tops, then we put on where everything goes likes sinks, taps, hobs, pop up sockets etc. Site surveys are usually carried out on the day of template, to make sure your units are strong enough and level, to take the weight of the granite or quartz. We will also check access, to make sure the pieces we cut actually can fit through into your house.

We usually take between 3 to 5 working days from template to fit depending on how busy we are – please ask on template for exact times.

Our survey teams all carry a full sample range with them, which can be viewed on template. Alternatively if you would like to view full slabs we can show you around the workshop and yard by appointment only – please ask for details by phone.

Yes, as we can discuss all the finer details of where joints will go, hobs, sinks etc. We will run through a check sheet for you to sign off when finished so you are completely satisfied with what you are actually getting. If you can’t make template for any unavoidable reason, we will use our expertise to do the worktops the best way we think possible for your project.

All the worktops are pre finished in the workshop, the only cutting that maybe carried out on site is usually to trim up-stands to size, which would always be done out doors.

All of our worktops are cut and manufactured in the UK in our own dedicated and bespoke manufacturing facility. This ensures that we maintain our high quality standards and exceptional level of customer service. Also enabling us to complete the installation of your worktops within 3-7 working days from templating.

Rinse with clean warm water (if you wish add a non-abrasive light neutral detergent – PH7) and dry with a chamois leather or similar.

Granite must not be rubbed with abrasive materials (such as metal pads, scouring detergents and wire) instead, wash with clean warm water to which a non-abrasive light neutral detergent (PH7) may be added.

We recommend you seal your granite at least once every 12 months. We can provide ‘care kits’ for your granite – please ask our survey team for details. We also always leave a free care sheet on every worktop for you to keep after installation, which is extremely helpful with little tips on how to keep it looking as gleaming as the day we install.
